This project involves a one storey single family house built about more than 30 years ago, very dimly lit despite its south facing wonderful views to the Peñon de Ifach
As the plot has a very steep natural slope, the space remaining from beneath the slab onto the foundation had been used as a little basement, which we found full of rocks, soil and debris.
Thanks to the emptying and the excavation of this basement, the planner created a new floor in the dwelling intended as a place in which to relax. This new floor connects with the swimming-pool, the terraces and the garden. In the original floor he opened the façades in a whole to allow the light shine through and use it as a leisure area.
An overall alteration was undertaken. Only the load-bearing walls and the roof remained unchanged. Keeping the former structure, a new dwelling was built with contemporary materials, including an under floor heating system.
The main concern of this construction was the procurement and stockpiling of the materials as well as the access of the machinery to the area. Due to the project configuration it has been impossible to assemble a tower crane so most of the procurements were done with a telescopic crane or directly by hand.
The result is a completely new house, well lit and comfortable.
